Spring Time

Baking Soda Tips

Fill the pan with warm water, add a fresh dryer sheet to the bottom of the pan, and let soak for 15 minutes. Wash and rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, fill the pan with hot water, add a handful of baking soda, and soak for the same amount of time. Scrub with the abrasive side of a scrubber sponge, rinse, and then wash.

As soon as the stove has cooled enough to touch (but isn't so cool that the spill has hardened), wipe away the mess.

Cover dried-on spills with a wet, soapy dish cloth and let it sit while you tackle another cleaning challenge. Use the cloth to wipe up the softened spill.

Cream sauces, custards, and other cooked-milk mixtures nearly always adhere to pans. To fix this problem, fill the pot with warm water and add several tablespoons of baking soda. Bring to a boil and let boil until the scorched milk loosens and floats to the surface.

Tomato sauce and other acidic foods leave stains on plastic that even the dishwasher won't remove. Set those plastic pieces out in the sun to naturally bleach the stains away. (Rub lemon juice on especially stubborn spots first.

Cleaning the Oven

Preheat oven at 200-degrees for 10-15 minutes.

Fill a 8x8 GLASS baking dish with Ammonia about an inch. Place the glass pan on the top shelf of the oven.
Now take a 9x13 GLASS baking dish and put it on the lower rack of your oven. Boil some water and put about an inch of boiling water into the 9x13 pan.

So your sink is not draining the way you would like it to? Try this.

1/2 C White Vinegar
1/4 C Baking soda
Cover the drain and let the chemistry do its work. Follow by Boiling water.

Now, if this does not work, you may need to snake your drain, use a draino type product, or ask you husband to undo the plumbing and see what is stuck.

1 Gallon hot water
1/4 C cloudy ammonia
1 teaspoon Baking Soda

If this still won't clean your problem, double the ammonia and baking soda but NOT THE WATER

My sweet Teenage son walks into the house after filing the gas into the lawnmower, washes his hands, grabs a bite to eat, and spits out his food.

Do you have oil on the floor of your garage? How about the drive way? When I was a teenager my dad was obcessed with keeping his driveway clean and garage floor, so obcessed in fact NO ONE was allowed to park on the driveway. Why you ask? Because if it was one of our friends and if their car left oil we were the ones out there cleaning it up.

Ok let's face it nothing smells as bad as baby spit up. Right? Well, did you know if you sprinkle baking soda on the area it will take out the smell? Yes it is true, I then throw my shirt in the laundry basket and when it is laundry day, wash as usual. No stain, No smell just a nice shirt!
